According to several published reports the Tennessee Titans are prepared to part ways with star running back Chris Johnson. The primary reason behind the move is Johnson's $8 million price tag which is exorbitant in a league that is featuring the passing attack.

The New York Jets have instantly become linked to CJ2K as there is a belief that the organization covets his game-breaking abilities. If the reports about the Jets interest in Johnson are indeed true, it then comes down to Chris' contract demands which are unknown at this time. There is one certainty: If Chris Johnson is looking for a hefty contract he is going to be very disappointed.

As of now the top contracts given to free agent running backs averaged a bit over $3 million a year. Based on the way John Idzik and the New York Jets have handled their offseason thus far, I would expect the team's offer to be in that range. If Johnson balks at the Jets offer Gang Green could then look to the draft to add a complimentary piece to the backfield of Bilal Powell and Chris Ivory.

Prediction: I can make an argument for and against signing Chris Johnson. The Jets desperately need a home run threat out of the backfield and were hoping Mike Goodson would be that guy. Goodson's off the field issues have become a huge concern so now New York has to explore all of their options.

If CJ2K is willing to sign a deal like Ben Tate's 2-year $6.2 contract with the Cleveland Browns I am all for the move. If Chris Johnson is looking for more, I would rather draft a young, hungry, explosive back. My best guess is that Johnson lands with the Dallas Cowboys.
