In a shocking allegation Will Take Charge's jockey has been accused of using an electrical device in Travers, as reported upon by the Daily Racing Form on Sept. 1, 2013. The Travers second-place finisher, Moreno, has filed a complaint with the New York State Gaming Commission alleging that Luis Saez, the rider of Travers winner Will Take Charge, used an electrical device on his horse during the running of this race. Will Take Charge beat Moreno by a nose.
Lee Park, spokesman for the Gaming Commission, has said, “We have received a complaint, which we are thoroughly investigating. We have sought the assistance of the New York State Police, which has expertise in video analysis.” However, Saez, via his agent Richard DePass, has denied the allegation. DePass said by phone from Florida, “It’s absurd for someone to make an accusation like that." They denied the allegation one million percent.
Fox Sports News has also reported on the shocking allegation that Will Take Charge's jockey, Luis Saez, used an electrical device in Travers. D. Wayne Lukas, the trainer of Will Take Charge, has said neither Saez nor himself did anything wrong. Lukas said Saez is a good kid and commented,"Somebody has a little trouble accepting defeat,” referring to Eric Guillot, who trains Moreno for Michael Moreno’s Southern Equine Stable.
