A bloody ratings cat-fight between Palin and Couric? Imagine Katie Couric's face when she learned, probably via an internal media grapevine, that Sarah Palin (her nemesis) was hired by Fox News (CBS's nemesis). When Sarah Palin's new job as a Fox commentator doesn't have Katie Couric shaking in her perky booties, Katie Couric must think of Sarah Palin is the gift that just keeps on giving.
Katie stacked up yet another award for her liberal biased Gotcha! interview with then vice presidential nominee when she caught Sarah off-guard with a frivolous question about what books Sarah read. Til yet, many wish that Sarah had looked Couric straight in the eye and responded deadpan, "Cosmo is my fave reading, Katie. I love the one with Republican Scott Brown's nude layout. Have you seen it?".
With a hearty laugh and that famous Palin wink when Katie took her seriously -- what do you betcha that a blushing Katie would have quickly backed away from that line of questioning?
Instead Sarah tried to explain to Couric, CBS's 15-million dollar a year disappointment, that Alaska wasn't so far out in the boonies that magazines and books weren't available. Since then, Couric can remember that interview as her One Bright Shining Moment right smack in the midst of a career wipe-out unequaled since Dan Rather's. Dan tried to blame his failures on CBS and though Katie might yearn to do that, CBS hasn't canned her -- yet. Tsk, tsk, those ratings, Katie, those ratings.
Though Palin is far above revenge, Couric is the woman most conservatives long to see Sarah one-up. Each had an adoring audience but Sarah's will follow her while Katie's weren't so adoring after all -- they ditched her when she moved. Katie just wasn't "fun" any more. What a blow that must have been to Katie's ego; since then the most Couric can pray for is that her ratings show a lower decline.
Fox News’ Executive Vice President for programming Bill Shine did make the prediction that Palin would be a ratings magnet and Neilsen ratings seem to prove him out.
"The Nielsen ratings are in and former V.P. hopeful Sarah Palin hit the nearly 4 million viewer jackpot last night for her debut appearance on Fox News's "The O'Reilly Factor" as a Fox News contributor. The count: 3,954,000 people tuned in to watch Palin last night." reports Betsy Rothstein.
It must be really tough
- to know that Sarah Palin was Governor while Katie was just the perky has-been morning talk show host-ess.
- to know that Sarah Palin was a VP candidate while Katie was just a has-been morning talk show host-ess.
- to know that Sarah Palin's book was a run-away best seller with supporters lined up shouting Sa-rah! Sa-rah! Sa-rah! while Katie had a book too but...
- to know Sarah's ratings are going to climb while Katie's plunge lower and lower.
Don't overlook this: Just for fun, the photo above of Sarah was photoshopped with a try-on of Katie's hairstyle. It's hard to miss that Sarah looks cooly sophisticated while Katie still looks like a perky morning talk show host. Keep shining those awards, Katie. Memories count.

Firstly, this article reads like a tabloid.
Secondly, apparently all it takes to stump Sarah Palin is a question about reading materials...? Yet I suppose Charlie Gibson's questions about international and domestic affairs are also just "GOTCHA" questions, too! Talk about a low-I.Q. bar for elected officials. The anti-intellectualism of conservatives is ALARMING. If a person can't answer a simple yet revealing question, let alone the more important questions, in complete, coherent sentences and in a logical fashion, simple logic warrants that they shouldn't be placed in such a position of power and leadership. Brains are back, and apparently the tabloids need to catch up to par.
TT Blue:
I'm sure being "pro-intellectual" you know that IQ has nothing to do with regurgitating information, it's ones' ability to learn new information and utilize that information, that comprises the makeup of an IQ.
That said, I really don't feel that Couric's simplistic, bordering on insulting, question of Palin warrented answering, and perhaps Palin felt the same way.
What kind of supposedly "serious" news anchor asks someone that form of querry? Was Katie implying that all Palin is capable of, is a saturday afternoon liason with "RedBook" and her latte?
I wouldn't have answered Couric either, and I'd probably have told her where to stuff her inane question. Palin has more class I suppose, she brushed it off, and ignored the question.
If you equate that one incident, with IQ, well then perhaps it is you that ought to be tested to ensure that you're a qualifier. We wouldn't want someone that doesn't meet the "bar" commenting on such, would we?
TT Blue:
As for your "tabloid" comment.
I much prefer this writer's take on it, it was informative and entertaining as well.
This is typical form, for writing political satire. I'm surprised you didn't know that....
This writer just happens to be supportive of Palin.
Perhaps it's not the style of writing that you dislike, but rather the whole concept of anyone *not* bashing Palin...
Maybe you ought to get over it, and leave a brainy comment, instead of a rude one, because your comment above, only exhibits a vast amount of "anti-intellectualism"
And again... we wouldn't want that, would we?
Ciao then....
I am reminded fondly, when logic, coherent sentences and power are mentioned, of our man Biden...
Now there's a winner! He never ceases to amaze me.
His eloquence and knack for saying *just* the right thing, at *just* the right time... are simply exquisite...
so answer questions, did biden answer the reporters question about from each according to his ability, to each according to his need? Would you please give me one hard question asked of obama, just one, that he actually answered. And oh by the way since when has the left ever not missed a chance to insult degrade anyone who disagrees with them. Oh sorry your degree is from the wrong place, stay out of politics
Rumour has it CBS is bringing Pro Wrestling to the time slot opposite Sarah. Can everyone spell D-I-V-A-S ?
Great article! Katie is a mean girl. She is no longer cute and perky. Sarah is the total package and Katie Couric has shown her "sophmoric" jealous hide. Go Sarah!
sarah is a grade a moron. TT keep on the right path, the left one.
i think there more importants things going on in this world than worring about two people who don,t need anymore attention, there both stuck on themself, sick sick
as far as gov. palin breaking couric's heart??? i would rather see palin, break her nose!!!!!
