I had never heard of Dion Rich until yesterday. But apparently he's been an underground hero for over three decades.

The San Diegan is 84 years old and has shown up uninvited to the Oscars, the Olympics, the World Series and yes, to the Super Bowl.

His 33 year Super Bowl streak will be on the line today as the Seattle Seahawks take on the Denver Broncos at Met Life Stadium in Rutherford, N.J. at this year’s Super Bowl.

He doesn’t do it for the money. Apparently Mr. Rich can afford to buy tickets to all of these events. He does it for the thrill of it all.

With security at the Super Bowl being so tight this year, according to an article written a few days ago by Diane Bell of U-T San Diego, the professional gatecrasher will not even attempt to sneak into the stadium today.

Instead he plans to find a suite and crash in on someone’s private party. There’s a reason beyond security to that. The Southern Californian sees it as a way to get out of the cold and snag some drinks and food before he is inevitably thrown out, saying “It feels a lot better getting thrown out on a full stomach.”

Many of those who have heard of Dion Rich are rooting for his streak to continue, hoping he makes it to his 34th Super Bowl on the house at age 84.

In a few short hours, his fans will know if the streak lives. Enjoy the game Mr. Rich!
