Will 'Pyongyang' lead to 'Jerusalem'?

French Canadian cartoonist Guy Delisle's graphic novel Pyongyang: A Journey in North Korea is being adapted to a feature film. Deadline reported yesterday that New Regency and Gore Verbinski‘s Blind Wink are spearheading the project. Gore Verbinski is attached to direct. Steve Conrad, who wrote the feel-good movie "The Pursuit Of Happyness", is handling the writing duties.

The social commentary graphic novel deals with Guy Delisle's two months experience in Pyongyang while he was there on a work visa for a French film animation company in 2001. He shares his observations of the strange and the weird in Pyongyang.

Pyongyang: A Journey in North Korea is the first in the travelogue series by Guy Delisle. Shenzhen: A Travelogue from China and Jerusalem: Chronicles from the Holy City are follow-ups to Pyongyang: A Journey in North Korea. If "Pyongyang" is successful, perhaps "Shenzhen" or "Jerusalem" will also get adapted into a feature film.

Pyongyang: A Journey in North Korea is published in North America by Drawn and Quarterly.
