Will Pontiac return? Should you hold out hope? How long should you carry that torch?
According to Bob Lutz, GM vice chairman, marketing and communications and all around car guy, you should stuff that candle in the closest rain barrel because that ship has sailed, that bird has flown and that cowboy has ridden off into the sunset. Pontiac is deader than a brick.
While claiming that he was "one of the prime supporters of Pontiac" and enthusiastic about the Solstice, Solstice GXP Coupe, G6 and G8, he's resigned to the fact that Pontiac won't be coming back any time soon. Not in his working career, he says, or that of anyone working today.
In other words, that chief has had his final powwow. Will the last one out please turn off the campfire.

When you go out of the street, how many pontiac do you see on the street? Can you compare them with the japanese brands? Pontiac has dead long time ago.

You certainly must see more Pontiacs than Buicks, at least. Pontiac was outselling Buick two-to-one. Buick has had more than two years to catch-up, so Pontiac's huge sales edge might be less obvious today.
I actually see a huge amount of Pontiac out on the roads. Especially the Grand Prix. They were popular cars. I see more of them than I do any specific Japanese brand in general.
There are still alot of Pontiacs that I see on the road. I agree totally with "guest" however as to what RT says. I must say that GM is partially responsible but I think that the people in this country. Epsecially those who say "I am proud to be an American" yet the drive a Lexus, BMW, Nissan, and etc. Are really the ones that are killing U.S. car brands like Pontiac. Which is a damn shame.
righton with american engineering. BTW any college student hoping for a career in auto design needs to move to China/out of the USA. The results of buying the secong biggest investment most make has a ripple effect throughout the US economy no matter the excuses foreign car buyers make,
Just wanted to say that I'm a Pontiac loyalist for life. I own a 1995 Trans Am, 1999 Grand Am, 2002 Sunfire and the dream car is a 1966 GTO. Also have four close friends that drive Pontiacs and quite frankly we're all pissed at GM for canning Pontiac. I feel Pontiac will rise again but its prolly not gonna happen until the Idiots that got rid of the brand In the first place are out of the picture.

AND NOW I DOT GET TO SEE THE NEW 2010 TRANS AMS i own a ws6 ta 6 speed transmission leather t-top ls1 ram air 2002 i would die with out them i pull up to mustangs and they rev there roller motors up against me and MY TA just sounds 10 times better and will eat a gt up like candy BRING BACK MY TRANS AMS!!! I WILL BUY A BRAND NEW ONE I PROMIS!!!!

love the invent re:invent while hes saying never again will a pontiac roll off the line they could have reinvented pontiac in all reality the camaro is probably what killed pontiac they spent all this money on a platform what was wrong with the f body? and as far as muscle goes fuel injection all the way baby the old engines lawn mowers lol no disrespect to the 455 but the lt and ls fuel injected motors are just as good if not better there i go bursting bubbles
I know this is old and i'm gonna rant, but I'm posting anyway. Bob and his GM designers destroyed pontiac. The last gens of the grand prix and the bonaville sucked. They killed the Firebird and released a doorstop with the GTO badge, yea it was fast but it looked like crap. Then came the G-series, That was a joke. So then They killed the performance division of GM and kept buick, And I know why. Old people love buicks, since bob has no heart to be young at and he is old its perfect sense buick survived. BOB PUTZ my you be run down in traffice by a Trans-am or any other pontiac for that matter.
