Will Matt Lauer or Anderson Cooper take over as 'Jeopardy' host?

According to the Los Angeles Times on Friday, Matt Lauer and Anderson Cooper are among the top candidates for Alex Trebek’s job.

Lauer has been hit hard by fans and the press about Ann Curry’s departure from NBC’s “Today” morning show. Even though he recently refuted allegations that he was the cause of her dismissal, the general public has a hard time swallowing that pill.

Trebek has been the face of “Jeopardy” for three decades but apparently as he creeps up to his mid-70s, so does his contract.

Trebek’s contract expires in 2016 and Lauer’s morning show contract reaches its end in 2015. Perfect timing?

It is no big secret that the silver fox of CNN is also a major contender. Anderson Cooper is certainly a strong option and doesn’t necessarily have the negative baggage that Lauer has acquired.

The “Jeopardy” replacement host guessing game could be as frustrating and confusing as Kelly Ripa’s search for a new co-host last year.

Who do you think would be the best host for “Jeopardy” after Alex hangs up his hat?
