Will Manning stay with the Colts under new contract?

After months of speculation over Peyton Manning's uncertain future with the Indianapolis Colts, owner Jim Irsay has finally spoken out stating he does want Manning on the roster next season.

This offer however is conditional and would require Manning to be willing to alter his contract to reflect the uncertain condition of his health and ability to play. With Manning being due $28 million on March 8, Irsay has to consider the financial repercussions of keeping the quarterback on and restructure his contract to better reflect his current situation.

Irsay stated:

"We would love to have him back here if he can get healthy and we can look at doing a contract that reflects the uncertainty of the ... healing process with the regeneration of the nerve"

Irsay's statement has put the ball in Manning's court, presenting him with a choice to make. However many are questioning whether Irsay's offer has been influenced by the overwhelming amount of public support the franchise quarterback has seen.

Manning has previously made it clear that he wants to remain with the Colts, having told the Indianapolis Star:

"I want to play in the same place my whole career"

And with the Colts looking set to pick up quarterback Andrew Luck with their first round draft pick, should Manning decide to stay it could be a fantastic opportunity for Luck to work alongside the four-time MVP.

With Manning's experience and Luck's potential it could see the Colts to go on to do great things next season.
