Zack Snyder looks to be having a great time casting the roles for Warner Bros/DC Entertainment's upcoming 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' film. From Ben Affleck(Bruce Wayne/Batman) to Jessie Eisenberg (Lex Luthor) and Ray Fisher (Victor Stone/Cyborg) along with Gal Gadot (Diana Price/Wonder Woman) and now it seems as if Jason Momoa will be tackling the role Arthur Curry aka Aquaman. Late Saturday night Drew McWeeeny over at HitFix is reporting that Jason Momoa has been officially cast as Aquaman after months of speculation, rumors and denials. Even more recently, Momoa has been showing a lot of anger when being asked about the role. So it's not a shock that this is coming to the surface at this point in the production. Momoa most recently has been playing Khal Drogo on the juggernaut HBO show 'Game of Thrones and of course was part of the flat, uneven, Conan the Barbarian remake in 2001.
"While Warner Bros. hasn't made that announcement officially yet, HitFix can confirm that he will be playing the part, and that Zack Snyder has already finalized his designs for the character so shooting can take place soon."
With news leaking out that Momoa has been cast, I would imagine we will be hearing an offical announcement from Warner Bros. At this point it's not known how big Momoa's role will be in 'Dawn of Justice' but rest assured it will be a much larger role in the 'Justice League' film coming in 2018. The reported plot of Dawn of Justice has a lot to do with the ending of 'Man of Steel' in which Superman nearly destroyed all of Metropolis during his battle with General Zod. We can't imagine someone Lex Luther or even Batman himself Bruce Wayne are very happy about this as Drew tells us about Aquaman's storyline a bit...
"Someone else who's not particularly happy about what happened in that film is Aquaman. I'm not sure if that's the actual name they'll use or not, but what we're hearing is that he is not pleased about the World Engine and what it did to the Indian Ocean."
The ending of 'Man of Steel' has been discussed, disected and debated at great length all over the web since it flew into theatres in 2013. Looking at what they have set up, the characters and the casting, the ending of the film begins to make much more sense. What do you think of this casting?
