Winston Churchill giving his famous 'V' sign (from Wikipedia)
Will I be Prime Minister?
Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill (1874-1965) loved Morocco, and whenever he traveled to Marrakech he stayed at Hôtel la Mamounia. Churchill, in fact, declared Marrakech was “the loveliest spot on earth.”
On his La Mamounia balcony, gazing down on the hotel’s famous gardens and beyond to the Atlas Mountains, Churchill indulged in his favorite hobby: painting.
Winston Churchill was 40 years old when he began painting, and he produced over 500 paintings during his remaining 50 years. He not only enjoyed the pastime, he was quite good at it. Renowned painter Sir Oswald Birley opined, "If Churchill had given the time to art that he has given to politics, he would have been by all odds the world’s greatest painter."
