Will.i.am is targeting urban radio with the Hit Boy remix of “Scream & Shout,” which leaked online Friday. The bass-heavy revamp of the track cuts back on Britney Spears' feature to make way for Lil Wayne and Waka Flocka Flame's slick raps.
"Scream & Shout" is stripped of Lazy Jay's original electronic sound with Hit Boy now at the helm of the remix. “When you hear this in the club, you're gonna turn-turn it up,” Spears still sings in her shortened segment. Diddy acts as the song's hype man and will.i.am contributes a new, rap-based verse this time around. For a crowded release, everyone gets their fair share of airtime with Waka Flocka Flame and Lil Wayne lyrically unloading over the remix's banging hip-hip production. Even Hit Boy himself gets some words in during the intro.
The music video for the “Scream & Shout” remix was shot this week with will.i.am, all the aforementioned rappers, and Spears confirming their participation in the project. Will.i.am cornered the pop and electronic market with Spears on the original version of the track. Now, it seems he's poised to make some noise on urban radio with the Hit Boy remix.
