Dr. Oz taped a show featuring "a very soulful, honest, uncomfortable conversation" with Paula Deen - but it may never air, reported the Orlando Sentinel. Why the decision to censor his own show? To protect Paula, according to Dr. Oz, who focuses on helping, not hurting, those he interviews.
"I am so proud of that show, I can’t tell you,” Dr. Oz told the reporter. "She’s such a wonderful, soulful person. It would be so helpful to people to see the show, but it wouldn’t be helpful to her. I don’t think she’s in the right place for it to be seen." Paula was recently diagnosed with diabetes and has been struggling with how to change her lifestyle.
The taping of that episode was "bumpy," according to the Sentinel article, apparently because Dr. Oz talked to Paula about her health concerns. Since that episode was filmed, Dr. Oz has communicated with Paula about it. "Some of the things she was speaking to were things she wasn’t proud about. I don’t want to cause that pain for her," he added.
