Will CW's 'The Carrie Diaries' be a hit or a bust?

Everyone’s favorite New York City sex columnist, Carrie Bradshaw, is back… but this time as a teenager living in the 80’s. The Carrie Diaries, also a series of books by the same name, airs on the CW at 8 P.M. starting this Monday.

The series takes place during Bradshaw’s senior year in high school. Bradshaw has to learn how to navigate typical adolescent trials and tribulations… which includes popularity, fitting in, sex and friendship.

While the previews of the CW series makes it seem like Bradshaw will be whisked away to the Big Apple in the first episode, this does not happen until the second novel, Summer in the City.

Summer in the City is where Bradshaw begins blooming friendships with Samantha and Miranda.

This could either be a big hit or a big bust for the CW. The show’s target audience may be too young to know what Sex and the City is or for that matter watch it. Fans of the original HBO series maybe too mature for The Carrie Diaries.

The book series, written by Candace Bushnell, is quite good for a "tween" book and does a great job of exploring the many facets of Bradshaw's childhood.

Anna Sophia Robb is playing the title character. Will she live up to everyone’s expectations? She seems spunky and cute enough to make the younger Bradshaw fairly likeable.

Be sure to tune in to the CW Monday night at 8 P.M.
