CBS, How I Met Your Mother star, Neil Patrick Harris, is being targeted by a conservative news site. The news site openly accused Harris of promoting a "gay agenda, and mocking Christians." The news website, WND, posted an article criticizing CBS, and the actor.
Harris' promo campaign for the 2013 NFL Super Bowl sparked the controversy.
Jan. 11, Metro Weekly cites, "CBS, the television network airing the big game this year, is now using an outspoken homosexual actor to mimic Tim Tebow's style of trumpeting messages in an eye-black make-up on his face."
One football fan who watched the CBS promo Sunday made the connection between Harris and Tebow, saying, "They're pushing a gay agenda by using him, and they're mocking Christians at the same time."
Harris is an openly gay male, involved in a committed relationship with partner, David Burtka. The couple adopted twin boys, Gideon and Harper, and recently spent the Holidays visiting family.
Harris, known for his ventures in comedy, (How I met your Mother) and (Harold & Kumar trilogy) is also a noteworthy Master of Ceremony. Harris hosted the Tony Awards with great success and recently hosted the "2012 National Christmas tree lighting with Barack Obama and Family." The actor is not known for portraying gay characters in his acting career.
Harris issued a response to the accusation on Twitter, "I must say I'm very excited for the Super Bowl. I love football -- look forward to it every year. #noagenda."
