Unlike most unsubstantiated rumors, the rumor about an affair between President Barack Obama and Vera Baker, just can’t seem to die a natural death.

Whenever someone thinks they’ve found something to substantiate the rumor that President Obama cheated on Michelle Obama with the elusive Vera Baker, the rumor takes on new life.
Who is Vera Baker and How Did This Rumor Start?
Vera Baker was a member of Barack Obama’s campaign team when he was running for the Senate. Baker became close to Obama when she worked on the fundraising campaign to get him elected to the Senate, and was responsible for raising millions of dollars in campaign contributions.
According to the rumor, one night in May 2004, Vera Baker was dropped off at hotel in Washington, D.C. by a limo driver, where she allegedly spent the night with Barack Obama.
Both Barack Obama and Vera Baker deny that an affair took place.
No One Has Yet Found Any Proof
The rumor about the Barack Obama – Vera Baker affair has been investigated by the National Enquirer, ABC News, NBC News, a Swiss newspaper named Le Matin, as well as a number of independent investigative journalists. No evidence to support this rumor has ever been found.
The videos of Obama in compromising positions with Vera Baker never materialized. Nor did the incriminating e-mail exchanges between Obama and Vera Baker that a team of software engineers claimed to have found.
No one has ever seen any of these “smoking guns.”
Despite the fact that a $1,000,000 reward was being offered to anyone who could confirm that an affair between Barack Obama and Vera Baker actually took place, no one has come forward with any proof.
It’s Time for This Rumor to Die a Natural Death
In all this time, there’s never been a single shred of proof that President Barack Obama has ever cheated on Michelle Obama with Vera Baker, or anyone else.
In fact looking at Barack and Michelle Obama together, it’s hard to even imagine them as anything other than a loving couple totally devoted to each other.
Yet, like the mythological phoenix, the rumor about the Obama-Baker affair burns itself out then resurfaces, or rises again.
Despite the lack of proof, this persistent rumor refuses to die a natural death.
It’s a new year.
For 2011, it’s time, once and for all, to put the Barack Obama – Vera Baker rumor to rest.
