ABC certainly likes to host competitive reality shows for the stars. On Tuesday, March 19th at 8pm, the network’s newest show, ‘Splash’ will premiere. Celeb enthusiasts can therefore first tune into this new ABC addition before turning their attention to ‘Dancing with the Stars,' which will air at 9pm.
The ‘depth’ of ‘Splash’ can be found by looking at ABC’s website, “Splash marks the first time 10 celebrities will train and compete in regulation platform and springboard diving at dizzying heights in front of a weekly poolside audience.” Videos, contestant photos and basic background information can be found on there as well.
However, let’s dive into the basic details. These celebrity contestants are trained by professional divers and mentored by diving legend, Greg Louganis.
The cast consists of Miss Alabama USA 2012 Katherine Webb, reality show star Kendra Wilkinson, Drake Bell (Drake & Josh), “Chelsea Lately” sidekick Chuy Bravo, extreme skier Rory Bushfield, comic Louie Anderson, actresses Nicole Eggert (Baywatch), and Keshia Knight Pulliam (The Cosby Show). Other professional athletes in the mix are pro basketball star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Detroit Lions defenseman Ndamukong Suh.
Like most competitive shows these days, ‘Splash’ is a series of eliminations. Each week the celebrities will be critiqued by two judges: London Olympic U.S. Gold medalist David Boudia and Australian Olympic athlete and USA dive Team director Steve Foley, as reported by Newsweek.
The hosts are Joey Lawrence and sportscaster Charissa Thompson. Tonight viewers will get a chance to see five contestants dive in. We are told that there are going to be a great deal of stunts, flips, twists, and spins. The competition is said to become more intense as the show goes on.
Will this new series make a significant ‘Splash’ on ABC? Tune in to find out.
