Will 2009 Emmy go to actor Peter Reckell ?

After 26 years actor Peter Reckell may finally get his “Susan Lucci” moment on tonight's presentation of the 2009 Daytime Emmy awards. Reckell has been a a major character since he hit the screen on the daytime drama “Days of our Lives” in 1983.

Days Fans have grown to love "Bo Brady", the modern day leather clad swashbuckler, who swept ingenue Kristian Alfonso as "Hope Brady" off her feet and onto his “humble steed”, or in his case a motorcycle. He was, and is the rebel with a cause always fighting for his family against his family’s arch enemies the "Dimera" family.

He has portrayed this daytime role of Bo Brady from a youthful rebel, into a man with character traits many would aspire to have in real life. As many talented actors and performers each year went by without so much as a nomination for his efforts. One daytime actress who I imagine can empathize with Reckell is Susan Lucci whos consecutive nominations, and loss’s became cause for Saturday Night Live satires. Finally Lucci was vindicated in 1999, when she was awarded her first Emmy.

The Emmys have overlooked Reckell's 26 years of acting until this year. He and wife (singer) Kelly Moneymaker have one daughter “Loden Sloan Reckell” . He said the call of his Emmy nomination came in while he was feeding his Loden. He described the whole thing as surreal. Said Reckell “Here we were with oatmeal our faces” laughing describing that after his daughters birth she became priority and awards became the last thing on his mind.
