After excruciating anticipation, author Suzanne Collins is finally releasing her third novel in the Hunger Games Trilogy on August 24th, 2010.
The first novel in the trilogy, The Hunger Games, introduces the post-apocalyptic dystopian setting in which teens are pitted against one another to the death in an entertainment event that is televised across the world. This novel is like The Most Dangerous Game meets 1984 meets V for Vendetta…Katniss Everdeen is the main character of the series, and you will find yourself rooting for her throughout the entire trilogy. (Also, keep an eye out for the film, which is rumored to come out in 2011)
Catching Fire, the second novel in the trilogy, deals with the aftermath of the first novel, in which the government seems to believe that Katniss and friend, Peeta, are heading a rebellion against them…Once again, Katniss is fighting for her life and the safety of those she loves…
The final novel in the trilogy, Mockingjay, has yet to be released, and just to be a sadist, the author has not released early copies of the book…Readers have no idea what to expect, and the author has already set the bar very, very high.
