Wildflower Wonders Hike at King-Swett Ranches

This Saturday, April 2 from 9 AM to 1 PM, hikers have an opportunity to take a wildflower hike in Solano County in an area only open to the public with trained guides. Solano Land Trust volunteer Jim Walsh and staff scientist Sue Wickham will lead participants to a veritable sea of wildflowers -- yellow cream cups, purple birds-eye gilia, and pink checkerbloom. No reservations are necessary, and the hike is free of charge (donations are welcome).

The King-Swett Ranches are a 3,930-acre expanse in the southwestern corner of Solano County. Depending on the route of your hike, you'll have views of Suisun Marsh, Mount Diablo, the Golden Gate Bridge and Mount Tamalpais, or the San Francisco and San Pablo Bays. This will be a strenuous hike, partially off-trail, through high grasses and thistle, on uneven ground and up and down steep hills.

Hikers should meet  promptly at 9:00 AM beside Jim's white "TruGreen" pickup truck at the Park-and-Ride lot where McGary Road, Hiddenbrooke Parkway, and American Canyon Road intersect, (on the Hiddenbrooke-side of the American Canyon/Hiddenbrooke Parkway exit, off Interstate 80).  You will carpool or caravan from there to the trailhead.
