Wild Tymes reopens with a rockin' weekend line-up

The Wild Tymes in downtown St Paul has tried many business options, including sports bar for Minnesota Wild fans, karoake bar, and live music venue.  Most recently, Wild Tymes has had a partnership with Diverse Emerging Music Organization (DEMO) for live music Wednesday through Saturday nights.

This past week, news hit St Paul streets that Wild Tymes was under new ownership.  The club didn't just pass the keys between one owner to the next.  The local music community was abuzz because news reports stated the bar would close temporarily to spiff up the venue.

"I've had so many bands ask me if their shows are still on this month at Wild Tymes," says booker and DEMO Artistic Director Steve McClellan.

"YES! The shows are still on and we have a great month of music."

Wild Tymes is officially reopened tonight with a special cabaret show at 7pm with the students from St Paul Conservatory for Performing Arts

According to their website, "The Senior Musical Theater Students are presenting their self-created, self-directed, self-produced Cabarets in early December.  The students have worked three months on creating evenings of performances that will be bring their individual artistic voices directly into the Twin-Cities community."

Later in the evening Absolute Gruv will be jamming the soulful blues sound.  They'll be playing late into the evening. Even if you have your ticket for the Thelonius Monk birthday show at the Artist Quarter, you'll want to cross the street to hear Sam Hankey's keys on the Hammond B3.

Friday's show also features Up Simba and Uncomfortable Uncle.

Tomorrow night (Saturday, Dec 3), The Mighty Mofos make a special appearance to the downtown St Paul scene.

The Mofos are considered local legends and have been giving the Twin Cities some of the rowdiest rockin' shows since 1984.

The Mofos will "rock yer socks off" to their versions of Kinks and The Who songs.  On stage, the Batson brothers may be having even more fun than the audience.  Bill Batson doesn't contain himself just to the stage, romping around and even the occasional leap off the stage.  Meanwhile, brother Ernie Batson excites the crowd with his grinding guitar sounds.

If you've never expereienced the Mofos, Wild Tymes will be a great place to share some drinks, some dancing, and some feel good, sing out loud music.  It has great sound and some dance room.  If it's been a while, best stop by and see them again - the Mofos make few appearances around town these days. Also with Uberscenester, Thee Unholy 3, The Play Prettys, and Whole Lotta Loves.  Music begins at 8pm.

All shows this weekend at Wild Tymes, 33 W 7th Place, St Paul, are free with donations suggested, not required and are 18+.
