Wild Roses will bring a hot spark of Americana and rock n' roll to Small's in Hamtramck this coming Saturday, October 20. They will be sharing the stage with the Riverboat Gamblers, Cobra Skulls and Snake Oil Slick.
The Los Angeles based music outfit has been creating their own brand of gritty rock music with a country edge for a good part of this year. The members that make up Wild Roses are former Dropkick Murphy guitarist Marc Orrell on lead vocals and guitar, Gavin Caswell (electric guitar, lap steel, slide guitar, mandolin and vocals), Jazz Limbo (bass guitar, songbird) and Evan Breese (drums).
Wild Roses came to be earlier this year after Marc had spent a late night of drinking and jamming with lap steel enthusiast (and The Black Pacific bassist) Gavin, the idea for Wild Roses grew over a discussion about the sounds and types of music that they were influenced by. A musical trinity they sometimes referred to as “The three Rs” – the Rolling Stones, Replacements and Ryan Adams.
After deciding to form a band they searched Los Angeles to find more "wild roses," and found their two other vibrantly talented members Jazz and Evan.
According to Marc, the newly formed caravan of four “pledged an oath to spread their joy with tunes that they hope will leave a trail of spilled drinks, dancing and smiles through tears. Music to help stave off the loneliness and keep the demons at bay…Songs to listen to on that long drive home to your loved one.”
