Wild Heart Dance releases demons

Our lives are shaped by many elements. The people we meet, the paths we choose, the decisions we make. Some factors are more dominant than others in how we are influenced. Some are inherited. We inherit the earth. We inherit debt. We inherit the pain and suffering of a world thrust in chaos. We inherit our family demons and burdens. When it comes to parental inheritance there is a theory that we don’t necessarily inherit our parent’s personality traits, but after intense connections for the biggest developmental part of our lives we do adapt to traits that are quite similar to theirs. Or, in some instances, the opposite. The question, really, is how do we reconcile, lay to rest, and release these complex issues and move forward to create our own lives?

Enter the premiere of Wild Heart dance company’s “My Mother’s Demon and My Father’s Burden”, examining the idea that we have the capacity to carry the burden of our parental lineage, as well as a collective inheritance which we, as a community, share while dealing with the issues of our society, the state of the world in which we live and the complexities of creating our own realities. Revealed through an hour long evening length concert, the audience can anticipate a journey rich in emotional, athletic and intimate performances by the dancers, all of which are seasoned, professional artists. Directed by Kat Gurley, the show, which has no intermission, aims to investigate the “tensions of personal relationships as well as collective impact of larger group experiences.”

Most certainly a subject matter nearly all members of the human race can relate to, you have only two opportunities to witness “My Mother’s Demons and My Father’s Burdens”. Check out the details below!
