Fourteen seniors graced the ice last evening with their parents, siblings and grandparents to celebrate their Senior year with the Bartlett, Wheaton North, West Chicago combined Wild Hawks Hockey Team. Not only are these boys rough and tumble hockey players, but are truly successful off the ice, too, as this team thrives on philanthropic opportunities of many types.
In the previous years they have scored toys for children with Epilepsy, fed homeless veterans, skated for Epilepsy awareness, just to name a few. This year the combined team will be putting their efforts toward Feed My Starving Children, where they will most likely be as competitive as they are on ice!
The fourteen boys honored last evening include the following:
· Jacob Somen, #5, from West Chicago High School, Varsity
· Trevor Hansen, #7, from Bartlett High School, JV Blue
· Danny Klein, #9, from Bartlett High School, Varsity
· Mike Petramale, #10, from Bartlett High School, Varsity
· Patrick Ummel, #13, from Bartlett High School, JV Blue

On Friday evening at 7:10 at Center Ice, the JV Blue team played Waubonsie and won 3 to 0. The Varsity Team took the ice at 8:50 to play Hinsdale South and won 6 to 3.
All around the evening was a complete success! Each player was called to ice between games, announced, and then skated over to present their mothers with two white roses and to take photos with their families. After at least 10 years of commitment from each of these players and their families, the final games that these boys will play will be bittersweet to say the least.
The community will also miss them as they were not just a team that played to win; they were a team that played to make a difference in the lives of those that need a hand from strong, stout-hearted boys. Due to their devotion, it is almost certain that they will continue to make the headlines with all of the good that they are certain to do in the future!
