Wild car chase & crash ends in arrest of 3 men & 6 people sent to hospital

It began Monday night, when three men in a black Nissan Murano SUV took police on a car chase ending in six people being sent to the hospital after a huge crash.

Ernest Ceasar, 20, of Deerfield Beach, Darius J. Monroe, 23, of Fort Lauderdale, and Gregory Holloway, 19, of Pompano Beach were all arrested.

The chase began when Ceasar and Monroe ran from a stop sign on the 3000 block of Northwest Third Street in Pompano Beach shortly after 6 p.m. The drivers then approached the 2800 block of Northwest Fourth Street, where they jumped out of the truck and got into a Dodge Caliber hatchback that held Holloway and an unidentified man. Finally, the hatchback crashed into a Hyundai Sonata sedan at Northwest 18th Avenue and Sistrunk Boulevard, according to the affidavit.

Three adults and three children who were in the sedan were minimally hurt, treated at Broward General Medical Center and released.

Ceasar, Monroe and Holloway were all arrested and are being held without bail in Fort Lauderdale for charges of resisting arrest. Monroe and Ceasar were charged with aggravated fleeing in a motor vehicle, Monroe was charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident involving an injury and Ceasar was charged with aggravated assault on an officer and burglary with battery. The unidentified man in the Caliber was set free with a broken leg, but no charges against him.

Before being arrested, Ceasar and Monroe fled the scene, ran to the 500 block of Northwest 20th Avenue, forced their way into a home and strong-armed the resident in that home. Deputies finally arrested the two men at that home.

Ceasar, Monroe and Holloway are all on probation and were charged with violating that status. As a result, they were ordered held without bail.
