TAMPA - After nearly 3 years together, Tampa Bay band, Wikkid, has announced that they are disbanding. The announcement comes via their official facebook fan page which posted the following announcement on March 6th:

“It is with Sad Heart, and much thought Wikkid is announcing it is disbanding. For the last 2 years, Wikkid has been Tim, Matt, Owen and Jay, a Brotherhood, a force to be reckoned with. We would have not been able to be the success that we were with[out] ALL OF YOU WHO SUPPORTED US!”

“We would like to thank 1st and foremost, our Wives and Girlfriends, who tirelessly went to every show, supporting us in what we did, and being our roadies a lot of time. We want to thank ALL of THE BARS (SO MANY TO MENTION) Events, and Private Parties, that we played, Giving us a chance to Show you what we could do, YOU all ROCK!”

The announcement comes just 3 months after the band lost their lead singer and founding member, Tim Knisely, when Knisely left the band in December... and 5 days after the bands drummer and founding member, Jay Diesel, announced that he would be leaving the band as well:

“Due to our band Wikkid losing Tim, and the band having to cancel a bunch of gigs, not being able to find a replacement and Most Importantly my Amazing G/f Chrissy n Layla that have come into my life .. I am leaving Wikkid to start a new chapter in my life with Chrissy n layla!! They are my Everything and my World and its OUR TIME NOW!!! I have sooooo many people to thank!!! All my Endorsements .. Crush drums, Paiste cymbals, Evans drumheads, X-cel drumstix and Sleek audio!!! My family for all their love and support, friends and all the fans!!!! Its been one heck of a ride these last 6 yrs and has all been worth it!!! I love you all and god bless!!!”

-Jay Diesel

Originally formed by Tim Knisely, Jay Diesel, David Seifert, and Brad Davis in the Spring of 2010, Wikkid quickly built up a fan base and gained popularity. 2011 saw the departure of founding members Davis & Seifert, but with the additions of Owen Law & Matt Lupori, the band showed no signs of slowing down.

Along the way, Wikkid managed to collect several local awards and honors. In 2011 David Seifert & Tim Knisely both received individual endorsement deals from Spawn Guitars. That same year, Drummer Jay Diesel won the “Sexiest Drummer of 2011" award, as well as the“Sexiest Musician of 2011" award at the 2011 KAM-BABS Sexiest Musicians of Tampa Bay Awards Ceremony in Tampa. In 2012, Wikkid won the award for “TBMN Favorite Rock Band of 2011" at the 4th Anuual TBMN Music Awards, presented by the Tampa Bay Music Network. Jay Diesel also won the “Mayhem Magazine Drummer of the Year” Award at the same event as well.

Before the departure of Knisely 3 months ago, the band was planning on entering the recording studio to start work on their debut album. Unfortunately with the recent news of the bands break-up, fans will not be able to see those plans come to fruition.

The St. Petersburg Live Music Bar Scene Column would like to wish all the members of Wikkid the best of luck with their future endeavors, as well as thank them for entertaining the music fans of the Tampa Bay music scene for the past 3 years.
