Berkeley, California -- a part of the U.S. considered ground zero for all that's anti-American -- is considering a city resolution to recognize WikiLeaks's leaker Army SPC Bradley Manning as an American hero.
According to one story appearing in Britain's The Telegraph, Manning, who served as a US Army intelligence analyst, became depressed after a break-up with his homosexual campanion. He also wrote: "Bradley Manning is not a piece of equipment," and quoted a joke about "military intelligence" being an oxymoron.
Manning, who is openly homosexual, began his gloomy postings on January 12, saying: "Bradley Manning didn't want this fight. Too much to lose, too fast."
Pentagon investigators plan to delve into Manning's background to ascertain if they missed any warnings when he applied to join the U.S. Army. According to The Telegraph, in May 2010, when he was serving at a US military base near Baghdad, he changed his status to: "Bradley Manning is now left with the sinking feeling that he doesn't have anything left."
Five days later, according to the Telegraph story, he said he was "livid" after being "lectured by ex-boyfriend," then later the same day said he was "not a piece of equipment" and was "beyond frustrated with people and society at large."
Manning was arrested at the end of May after allegedly leaking a controversial video of a U.S. helicopter attack, and he became the chief suspect when the Afghan war documents were leaked to Wikileak.org and appeared in the Washington Post and New York Times.
Manning, who is reportedly on suicide watch, was transferred from a military jail in Kuwait to a prison in Washington DC, as the Pentagon called in the FBI to assist in the hunt for the source of the leak.
According to Accuracy in Media, a media watchdog group, Manning's Facebook page shows that he enjoyed the MSNBC program hosted by Rachel Maddow, the lesbian activist, and that he listed the left-wing Media Matters and the National Center for Transgender Equality as being among his "likes and interests."
"Manning's affinity on his Facebook page for 'Repeal the Ban' is also significant. It is a project of a group called Servicemembers United, which describes itself as the nation's largest organization of gay and lesbian troops and veterans, their allies and supporters. The group receives financial support from the Open Society Institute of billionaire George Soros," wrote AIM's editor Cliff Kincaid.
While the President Barack Obama and his administration are calling for an end to the Bill Clinton-initiated "don't ask, don't tell" policy for gays and lesbians in the U.S. military, most Americans are being told only half the story.

Julian Assange hero.
This is ridiculous. Bradley Manning is not a hero. When did breaking the law become something to be celebrated? He betrayed and embarrassed his country. If he had ethical issues with what he was seeing and/or doing there were much better–and far less damaging–ways to constructively deal with that. He and Julian Assange have caused people to lose their lives and made everyone in America less safe. Is the Government perfect, no. Do they do wrong, yes. Has Bradley Manning changed that? Not even close. Actions have consequences. Support him out of compassion and love for him, but don’t ask everyone else to act like this isn’t a big deal. This is a HUGE deal. Foolish, selfish child? Yes. Hero? Not by a long shot.
I know of know valid report backed by fact indicating anyone has been harmed by this leak. Simply a lie. Another leak, The Pentagon Papers" stopped the Nam slaughter, and exposed the lowlifes we elect. Transparency is the only real law worth obeying as concerns our country's information. Mr Manning has done more to help this world and the people in it than all of the useless , corporate ----sucking legislators combined.
This is a reply to Michael. He only did it with selfish intent. By no means I'm I against gays and lesbians, but he only did it to bring more light to a totally off topic situation that affects him. So to be able to get what he wants he's going to endanger everyone else as much as he feels like we're endangering him by releasing documents that could possibly be what's keeping the terrorists from attacking us. The difference between 'Nam and now is that 'Nam was no true threat to us, only a threat to themselves. This war we're in at this very moment is a retaliation to a direct attack on the U.S. It might've worked in the past and maybe even the future, but right now I just don't see any possible way this benefits us at all. It's the exact reason why a little over a month ago the FBI almost completely shut themselves off to the media during the terror threat from Yemen. If anything on action were to get out we'd be in a world of trouble. And besides, all documents get released at some point. They haven't failed us there yet.
SPC Manning is a traitor and didn't help the repeal of "Don't ask, Don't Tell" with his unlawful act. People with security clearances know that divulging them in punishable by death. While I do not wish this for him, unfortunately some of his comrades will be compromised by his actions which could lead to their demise. As an Air Force Comm. Vet., his actions disgust me. He should be sent away for life.
I will volunteer to put a bullet in Brads sick twisted perverted brain
Wouldn't it be hilarious if a writ of habeas corpus couldn't produce a Bradley Manning. Maybe he's a fictitious character created with a history on the net. I bet there's more to this than meets the eye.
Assange , Manning, are American heroes.
History will see their work in th same light as the Watergate Tapes.
Guess how many creepy people were saying they'd 'put a bullet in' the Deepthroats head?
Pfffft. Coward are always afrid of the truth.
And afraid a stiff wind will take the country down like a house of cards.
Idiots.

The ham handed reaction of our gov't is worse than 99.9% of the weak sauce wikileaks so far. Trumped up sex charges (for not wearing a condom, by a woman with ties to the CIA) and the gov't using every dirty trick to control private corporations to cut of the truth? all when Wikileaks said they were going to expose Wall Street and the corruption of several big banks in America? Fiiishy.
TIME'S PERSON OF THE YEAR?
JULIAN ASSANGE.
FACT!
Assange = hero.
It's a shame we need an Aussie to point out our corruption.
If the media in this country had 1/2 the balls this guy has, we'd be set for life.
The truth shall set you freee...
...but first it's gonna hurt like a motherfxxxer.
So, the whole "rape" case was over not wearing a condom?
Those Swedes are weird.
Whistleblowers always face death threats and blackmail / smear campaigns...it's par for the course.
Some people online are rubes if they believe everything the bank backed US media tells them.
Hey America, does this handkerchief smell like chloroform to you?
Whatever you do...don't google:
CIA KIDNAPPING TORTURING INNOCENT ITALY GERMANY WIKILEAKS
Keep letting FOX News spoonfed you pap straight from the richest 10% of the world, sheep.
What does any of this mean? You have been alone in the dark far too long.
1) Mainstream media release torrent of smears against Assange and Wikileaks
("Rapist", "Terrorist", Etc)
2) US public soils pants in knee jerk outrage ...
calls for Assange to be scapegoated and jailed and/or murdered.
3) Champagne corks pop at US Banks! "Good Boy Mainstream Media. Who's a good boy? You are! Yes you are!"
4) The sheep lower their heads and continue grazing.
People killed by Wikileaks = ZERO
People killed by CIA = THOUSANDS
Wikileaks ---> WIN!!
When will Wikileaks release info detailing how the US Gov't used Paypal,
Mastercard, Google, Yahoo News, to silence Wikileaks!?
I agree, the ham handed reaction of our own gov't eclipses 99% of the leaks so far. True!
How bad can Wikileaks be if IRAN thinks they're US sponsored?
First truth....then the hammer.
Tea Party 'Patriots' sit by the fireplace sipping Celestial Seasonings and counting their retirement funds, "Us? Anti-Corruption? Haha, you actually believed that nonsense?""
Guess as soon as Freedom Works and their bank backed parties dried up so did the desire for a transparent, honest view of WHAT our tax dollars are being spent on.
I'm sure Osama is laughing his butt off as we chase
the big bad hackers with our pants around our ankles
instead of dealing with the real Elephant in the Room
= the US completely controlled by Powerful Banks
and Big Money that couldn't care less for OUR country.
America, when the banks and wold types of this world realize there's no more profit to be made off Third Worlders, where do you think they're going to go next? YOU.

If you want a hero go down to your local VA hospital, local VFW, your local law enforcement offices, the fire department, the hospitals that is where your heros are. How pathetic a community Berkeley must be to hold up a coward and criminal as a hero. Berkelians should venture out into the world to enlighten themselve recognizing that there simple little lives, filled with arrogance and hate, are truly meaningless. How can so many be completly out of touch with what is important?
Assange = RAPIST
Disgusting that so many are willing to forgive this man for RAPE - or worse - pretending that this is some sort of 'conspiracy' against Assange.
The rapes were reported BEFORE the document drop. Did these women KNOW Assange would drop these documents months in advance and alleged rape as some sort of revenge? They were his OWN EMPLOYEES!
Assange is an arrogant, self absorbed man. Look at this Assange quote and tell me he isn't a Grade A douchebag.
Mr Snorrason also left after he challenged Mr Assange's decision to suspend Mr Domscheit-Berg. Mr Assange responded saying: "I am the heart and soul of this organisation, its founder, philosopher, spokesperson, original coder, organiser, financier and all the rest. If you have a problem with me, piss off."
He should be hung as a spy.
He was a soldier who was a Benedict Arnold.
It's treason for any soldier to give info whether via Internet or any other means.
Hah! The same left-wing morons who spread the Glen Beck is a murdering rapist charge (with absolutely no proof, nada, nothing, no charges, no case, just internet rumormongering character assassination from the left)... call actual charges from an official agency (the Swiss criminal system) from actual people you can interview and verify (the two women making the charge) are all 'CIA plants' or the charges are 'made up' to 'punish Assange (and this moron). You left-wingers are idiots if you think destroying diplomatic ties with countries fighting Islamic terrorism are to anyone's benefit other than the Islamic jihadis.
bahh sheep bahhh! The only national security exposed are videos of troops killing un-armed peasents. The peasents already knew, now we do too. History will remember the soldiers with no greater fondness than Custer and Pizarro. With all the courage it takes to kill from an un-manned drone. Now go back to bahhing sheep.

Divulging National Secrets is NOT an act of heroism, it is a traitorous act that puts the Nation and the brave men and women who server this country at risk. So it would have been ok I if someone released the invasion plans for Normandy in WWII. I cannot believe that anyone with a rational brain can even agree with what he did let alone call me a hero. I suppose the enemies of this country that were the benefactors of receiving classified information would call him a hero. This is nothing more than espionage and treason, plain and simple; and he should be tied to the fullest extent of the law!!!
