There's a lot of news coming out about the Wii U's Virtual Console and how current Wii console owners can get their games transferred over to their new system. Nintendo already made it clear that users have to re-buy previously purchased games, at a discount.
As if the re-buying of games they've already purchased wasn't enough for duel Wii and Wii U owners, finding out that save files won't transfer over is another kick in the ribs. Nintendo confirmed the news to Kotaku this evening.
Right now, "Balloon Fight" is currently the only game available on both systems, so it's not a big deal. However those that have games like "Super Metroid" or "Paper Mario" won't be able to continue their games on the Wii U.
Transferring games from the Wii to Wii U, then updating to the Wii U version of the game gets you GamePad controls, access to the Miiverse community, and customization options. These features are the reasons why people would want to transfer their games over, but not having their save files come over could be enough to make people hold off.
There's no word if Nintendo is trying to fix this or if it's going to be standard for the console. Only time will tell.
