During today’s episode of Nintendo Direct, which was primarily devoted to “Wii Fit U,” Nintendo announced another new title for the Wii U. That game is “Wii Sports Club,” and it was announced on September 18, 2013. This new title is an HD remake of the original “Wii Sports,” which released in 2006 as a packaged game with the original Wii.
This new title will featured HD visuals as well as improved controls. The game will take advantage of the improved precision of Wii MotionPlus controllers, allowing for much tighter control. These titles will also feature online multiplayer, allowing players who are not in the same room to compete with one another. The online multiplayer will feature casual games, which are primarily just for fun, and ranked games where players will be ranked based on their performance in the games. Players can also join clubs, which are split up by region or state. This will let players communicate and compare scores with other players in their region or state.
These new titles will be available by two different methods. The “Wii Sports Club” itself is just a hub for the title. The player must enter this hub to purchase the individual sports. Each individual sport can be purchased at a price of $9.99. Players will also have the option of buying a 24 hour pass for $1.99. This pass will allow players to play any of the currently available sports for a 24 hour period, but they will lose access afterwards unless they pay again.
“Wii Sports Club” is slated to release on November 7, 2013. At that time, the tennis and bowling sports will be available. The other three sports, boxing, golf, and baseball, will be available later on. It is also possible that Nintendo plans to add more sports to the club (such as the ones from “Wii Sports Resort”), but this is only speculation.
