March 21, 2010--Will Wii be teaching your kid his ABC’s come fall?
Maybe not quite so soon. But it won't be long if Shigeru Miyamoto--the creator of Mario and co-creator of Nintendo’s Wii system--has his way.
Nintendo is pushing hard to get into the education world with its latest products.
Miyamoto stated in a recent AP interview that Nintendo DS Systems are already set to be used “In junior high and elementary schools in Japan."
“Video game applications for school study,” Miyamoto said,” is maybe the area where I am devoting myself the most.”
If the idea of Wii Algebra is not your cup of tea, consider this:
Blending of education and virtual media is hardly a new concept.
Besides, maybe kids finally will cry foul when parents ground them from homework.

I once heard a comedian say that if we discovered computer games before books, we'd be yelling at our kids to get their nose out of the book and get on the computer.
My son learns so well on the computer and loves his computer games, including Wii. We fought it for awhile, then started to work with it. He is now getting all A's as a Computer Science major in college. This is one of the degrees with the highest demand....
