Mark your calendars for Janaury 28 when Anchor Bay Entertainment and RADiUS-TWC release writer-director Stacie Passon’s debut film, Concussion. The film received a 2014 Film Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best First Feature (director Passon and producer Rose Troche), as well as two 2013 Gotham Independent Film Award nominations for the Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Award (Passon) and Breakthrough Actor Award (Robin Weigert). It also nabbed a Grand Jury Prize nominee at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
An impressive cast, including Weigert, Maggie Siff, Johnathan Tchaikovsky, Janel Moloney and Ben Shankmen, spin this contemporary tale of a woman’s emotional epiphany and sexual awakening.
Abby (Weigert) may have a loving family and all of the creature comforts in life, but even so, she can't fight a growing feeling of discontent. That all changes the day a speeding baseball smacks into Abby’s skull causing a concussion and unleashing her latent sexuality that sends her on an erotic journey. She is prompted to acquire a pied-a-terre in Manhattan and works as a high-class escort while keeping her sordid new career a carefully guarded secret from her unsuspecting family.
A gay ol' time, and we mean that in the nicest way.
