A Wichita Falls man was sentenced to 23 years in the Texas penitentiary system for his part in three aggravated robberies Friday in the 30th District Court as part of a plea agreement, according to an article in the Saturday, Oct. 5 edition of the Wichita Falls Times Record News newspaper. Kadeem Wayne Emmers, 22, was the third person to plead guilty in connection with the robbery of a convenience store on June 12, 2012 in this city which hugs the Red River in North Texas.
Emmers was actually sentenced to three concurrent 23 year sentences based on the fact he was involved in three aggravated robberies which occurred in the city. The defendant played a role in the robberies of 7-Eleven at Barnett Road and Southwest Parkway, the Whataburger at 3404 McNiel Ave. and finally the Stripes Convenience Store at 2200 Southwest Parkway.
The robberies turned out to be a family affair as part of Emmers agreement included testifying and providing information against two of his relatives. He testified against brother Akeem Nash and provided information about cousin Quewannocci Moore, 22. Nash was sentenced to 45 years as a guest of the Texas prison system for his part in the family expedition while Moore will have his address changed for 18 years.
The Wichita Falls Police Department under the supervision of Chief Manuel Borrego conducted the investigations which led to the convictions of the three men involved in these robberies. Because the offense was aggravated or a so-called 3(g) offense under Texas law, Emmers will be required to serve at least half of the time before he may be eligible for parole.
