A 59-year old Wichita Falls man will receive an all-expense paid trip aboard one of the state's finest buses to the Texas penitentiary system following his guilty plea and sentencing in the 78th District Court Friday (yesterday) for sexual assault, according to an article in today's (Saturday) Wichita Falls Times Record News newspaper. Wichita Falls Police Department investigated the case which resulted in the conviction and 12 year sentence yesterday afternoon for David Paul Christner, a resident of Wichita Falls.

The defendant actually pleaded guilty to two charges which will result in his change of address to one of the plush units of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division. He pleaded guilty to not only aggravated sexual assault of a child, but also to a count of indecency with a child for sexual contact. The two 12-year sentences will run concurrently which means at the same time.

Several law enforcement agencies were involved in the investigation and prosecution of this case which will lead to the defendant's change of address from the Wichita County Jail where he has reportedly spent 219 days awaiting his day in court with the Wichita County Sheriff's Office providing room service for him. The investigation began when Child Protective Services swung into action and let Wichita Falls Police Department know about a possible sexual abuse on April 9, 2012.

Patsy's House Child Advocacy Center interviewed the 11-year old victim and elicited details of the incident which occurred May 20, 2011 at the defendant's residence on Crescent Lane in Wichita Falls. The probable cause affidavit revealed the alleged abuse occurred when the victim was 10 years of age.

When Christener was interviewed the following day he said he was asleep. The offense allegedly occurred in his bed.

Manuel Borrego is chief of the Wichita Falls Police Deparment which investigated the case.

The case was prosecuted by the Wichita County District Attorney's Office located in Wichita Falls, Texas.
