Why you should stop saying I love you

See also

Romantic relationships are all about love. Sharing your life with another person and expressing your emotions. What a wonderful thing to be in love. But sometimes we express that love too soon or too often because saying I love you has just become second nature. It may sound crazy, but sometimes, you should just stop yourself from saying I love you.

Saying it too soon

In a new relationship, saying I love you may seem like second-nature. When you end one relationship, your emotions are at a certain level and when you start a new relationship it can be easy to start off with the new person on the same level you were at with your ex. So because saying I love you had become a habit, it may be difficult to talk on the phone with your new boo for an hour and then end the conversation with out saying I love you. But you have to! You don't want to say I love you too soon. It's always awkward in a new relationship, thinking about who will say I love you first, but it really doesn't matter who says it first. The key is to wait until you truly feel it for that person, not just because you think you're supposed to say it.

Saying it too often

In a more seasoned relationship, saying I love you becomes second nature. It's officially a habit. It almost takes the sincerity out of the phrase. You say it, almost robotically, at the end of every conversation before you hang up and every time you leave each other's presence. The thought process behind it is absolutely beautiful. You want your partner to always know how feel about them. It's beautiful. And romantic. Until it's not. If it ever becomes too ritualistic, maybe try not saying it every now and then. It will mean so much more when you do say it with meaning.

But don't forget to say it!

Saying I love you too soon or too much can be detrimental, but the worse thing you could do would be to not say it at all. In a new relationship, you may be nervous about saying because you don't know if they'll say it back. But don't let that stop you! After a certain amount of time, you should both know how you feel about each other. You can only hold it in for so long, so go for it! Say I love you and mean it! In a long-term relationship, you can't stop saying I love you just because you assume they already know. It never gets old. It's so important to keep things as fresh and exciting as they were in the beginning.

What do you think? How soon is too soon to say I love you?
