Why You Need To Be At Red Bull's Thre3style DJ Battle in San Francisco March 1st

Since hip-hops conception, the DJ has been the focal point and symbol of the culture.  DJs have essentially helped and guided some of the careers of some of the most prominent figures in hip-hop music, as well as essentially helping to keep the art form from extinction.

With that being said, helping to keep the essence of hip-hop alive, energy drink company Red Bull, will be bringing their Thre3style series to San Francisco’s Ruby Skye Thursday March 1st.  The innovative concept that is Thre3style, is an international DJ Battle Series which gives some world famous DJ’s a global platform to showcase their skills while rocking the crowd and competing against equally as talented DJ’s.  Unlike other DJ Battles, Thre3style, finds the DJ who moves the crowd the most, instead of looking at over-stylistic techniques and etc.  For the competition, eight of the best DJ’s coming from the West Coast will compete each with a 15-minute set that must blend three different genres.   The judges: Aaron Axelsen (Live 105 Music Director & Founder of PopScene), Shortkut (InvisblSkratchPiklz and Beat Junkies), Big Once (2011 Red Bull Thre3style National Champ) and Bad Raiders (Australian Recording Artists & Production Duo) will judge the group of DJs based on their track selection, creativity, mixing skills, stage presence and crowd reaction, and ultimately, will determine who is the best DJ in San Francisco.  The winner who is selected, will then have to prove themselves in different battles to become the Red Bull Thre3style Champion.  Ultimately, the Thre3style national Finals will be hosted this summer in Orlando Florida and at that time The National Champion will battle against DJ’s from all over the globe at the Red Bull Thre3style World Finals which will be hosted in Chicago.

Hoping to get that opportunity, are eight well known Bay Area based DJ’s: KingMost, Zita, Theory, Just, Miles Medina and John Beaver.  Also competing at the San Francisco event are Four Color Zack who won the Seattle pre-qualifier and Playtime who won the Portland pre-qualifier.  The event will be hosted by The Golden State Warriors MC Franco Finn, and if you are interested in attending the event, doors open at 9PM, and the show will begin at 9:30 on Thursday March 1st.  The show is $12 and will be hosted at San Francisco’s Ruby Skye located at 420 Mason St.
