This year is expected to be bigger and better. The Chicago Good Food Festival and Conference (formerly known as Family Farmed Expo) has something for everyone, even for the little sprouting localists. Here is a list of what you will find:
- On Thursday, March 15 kicks off various informative seminars for the Good Food Financing Conference. This is geared towards those who are in the farming and food business. Click here for a list of the schedule.
- If you are wondering what organizations and schools are doing to provide healthier lunch options for kids, then Friday, March 16 is the day you may want to attend. From Best Practices in Procuring Local Food K-12 Schools to Building Bridges from Chicago to Carbondale, these seminars provide useful tools to provide the best in local foods for our schools and connecting farms throughout the state of Illinois. The tradeshow also opens on at noon on day providing an opportunity to meet local farmers, taste and sample some of the best that local foods has to offer. The evening ends with a Localicious Party.
- Saturday, March 17 is set to be the most fun day for families. Get your questions answered about GMO's, learn how to plant a garden in even the smallest of balconies and how to eat local and organic on a dime. There will also be various Chef demos including Karyn Calabrese from Karyn's Raw Food and Purple Asparagus will be sponsoring the Kid's Corner where kids can hear stories about their foods, enjoy some face painting as well as arts and crafts.
