Fundamentalist religion gives cover for the most sexiest beliefs one can imagine. Supposedly there is a god who jump started the vast, vast universe with quadillions of stars, but he cares about your sex life. He wants you to be heterosexual and he wants to be sure that a husband/man runs the family. This goes beyond absurd. This goes beyond idiotic. Even the old T.V. show the Twlight Zone couldn't come up with something so crazy.
There's a crazy pastor in Arizona named Steven Anderson and he carried around his wife each morning to remind her that Jesus says he is the boss of the family. (By the way Arizona, you are a beautiful state in which I love visiting but what's with all the nuttiness?)
Anderson states, "It’s a Male/Female relationship. I’m the man. You’re the woman. I’m gonna pick you up and show you that. And if I ever want you to go somewhere that you don’t wanna go, you know what? I’m just showing you, I have the power to pick you up and take you there."
So basically, he thinks of himself as Tarzan and his wife as Jane. So if he becomes sick and weak, I guess, according to his logic, his wife would be in charge of the household because she would be stronger.
On a totally separate issue Massachusetts U.S. Senataor Elizabeth Warren has pointed out, adjusted for inflation and productivity gains, the minimum wage of 1962 would be over $22 an hour today. Now, she is not favoring the minimum wage be raised to $22 an hour, neither necessary as am I, but it is food for thought.
Republicans are opposing any increase in the minimum wage even if just adjusted for inflation, not taking into consideration productivity increases in the last 51 years. Once again, they care more about corporate profits then the income of the poorest people they supposedly represent.
Lastly, Hillary Clinton has come out in support of gay marriage in this video released by the pro-gay rights group, Human Rights Watch. To be honest with you, I thought she had did that years before. There is hardly a Democrat outside of the Bible Belt that hasn't come out in support of marriage equality.
By the way, the HRC is a great organization that I am a proud contributor. If you support gay rights, please think about joining the HRC. Thanks.
