If your child is between 2 and 3 they may be going through the “why” stage. Sometimes it seems like everything you say is followed by “why”?!!
Kids this age are full of questions because they’re curious. They’re realizing that there are reasons behind the things that happen and they are finally verbal enough to ask about them.
Sometimes they continue to ask the same thing because they’re trying to understand, but very often it’s because they are enjoying the routine and the attention that it gets. When it gets frustrating, realize that they are at least learning about the cycle of conversation and definitely gaining more language skills along the way.
If you’ve had it with answering that continual barrage of “whys”, then turn it around and ask “What do you think?” If that doesn’t stop it, just tell your child that you’ll talk about it more after lunch (or whenever).
The good thing is that they are learning! If it’s frustrating for you, just know that this is a stage and it will fade!
