Bed bugs are great hitchhikers!
They are usually transported from place to place as people travel. Fully developed, the tiny insects are about the size of a grain of rice. This allows them to easily hide in the seams and folds of luggage; overnight, school, or gym bags; folded clothes, bedding, and all kinds of household furniture and other personal effects when their environment is disturbed.
As their name suggests, their favorite hangout is the bedroom, but they can also be found residing in overstuffed living or family room furniture or pet quarters.
Most people don't realize they can transport stow-away bed bugs as as they travel to and from the office or school; the locker room or luxury spa; and, yes, especially when relocating between residences when moving locally, long distance or around the world.
