Why the sequester won't change your resources now

Any American who is listening to the news realizes that there are parts of the governments’ decisions that could affect their lives. For Phoenicians in the midst of a job search, the reality is that Congress may at some point change the way you are able to use resources provided in support of your job search. This doesn’t mean that the government is going to dictate all of the processes or tools you have, but it does mean that you may need to look for different ways to approach your job search. Here are 3 things that could separate your job search from the competition:

  • What have you done for your networking lately? Beyond your LinkedIn® account, how have you reached out to people who really know the skills and experience you provide in the workplace?
  • When did you visit your city and county resources? Whether you are in a major metro area like Phoenix, or on the edge of Phoenix in places like Avondale and Apache Junction, have you explored the workforce development locations that have people and resources to help you find your next career path?
  • Are you controlling what you can truly control? No matter where you live, what industry you work in, or what job you want to secure, there are some factors that you are going to control on your own. These include your resume; your ability to interview effectively, your understanding of what employers will think is important in jobs you will be applying for.
