Have you ever been told that cuddling can do wonders for a relationship? It’s true. In a new survey it’s been revealed that the Happiest couples sleep close together.

This was confirmed when Richard Wiseman, a psychology professor at the University of Hertfordshire, asked 1,000 people about how they sleep with their romantic partners. Wiseman also asked about their personalities and honest opinions about the quality of their romantic relationship. The survey was conducted at the Edinburgh Science Festival.

Here’s the scoop:

  • 94% of couples that spent the night and cuddled were far happier than those that did not touch in slumber ( 68% ).
  • If a couple spends less than an inch apart while sleeping, they are happier than those that slept 30 inches or more.

Bottom line: Avoid sleeping apart as much as possible to keep the love alive.

As for personality, extroverts are most likely to sleep close to their romantic partners. If a person is very creative, he/she has more of a tendency to sleep to the left ( away from his/her romantic partner).

The majority of couples surveyed ( 42%) prefer to sleep back to back. 31% of the people surveyed like to sleep the same direction as their significant other. Only 4% of people surveyed face one another and 12 percent automatically sleep less than an inch apart, while 2% of the surveyed people like to sleep more than 30 inches apart.

After learning this information, it’s very wise to sleep as close as possible to one’s romantic partner.

I personally like to sleep on my man’s chest, right under his neck. I naturally do it because I feel safe and I like that he can smell my hair and wrap his strong arms around me. But we all have our preferences how we like to sleep and everything ain’t for everybody.
