Why Oksana Grigorieva stiffed the lawyer who cut her $15 million deal with Mel

Oksana Grigorieva, who had a reputation for being a “gold digger” and a user before she came to this country, had finally hit the jackpot.

Eric George, the high-powered attorney Oksana hired, negotiated the deal of a lifetime with Mel Gibson on her behalf.   

It was a $15 million package that provided handsomely for Oksana, who had been Mel Gibson’s mistress for several months before becoming pregnant with his daughter, baby Lucia, who at the time of the negotiations was less than one year old.

Under the terms of the 15 million financial package that Eric George had skillfully negotiated, Oksana and baby Lucia would be set for life.  The package included lumps sum cash payments, monthly payments, a $3 million mansion in which to live with all expenses covered, a nanny for the baby, educational benefits  medical benefits, life insurance benefits, upon Mel Gibson’s death, and more.   See  The Financial Bonanza Oksana Lost by Reneging on Her Signed Agreement with Mel

Eric George and his associate Sonia Lee were very thorough, even to the point of having two retired judges oversee the mediation so that everything was legal, above board, and by the book. 

Both Oksana and Mel, and their respective attorneys were finally satisfied, and all preliminary paperwork was initialed and signed.

For services performed, Eric George was to receive a fee of 10% of Oksana’s portion of the negotiated deal.  Baby Lucia’s portion (her financial benefits and child support) was exempt from any fees.   

Why Oksana Was No Longer Satisfied with her $15 Million Deal

Oksana had no problem with the deal Eric George negotiated on her behalf and willingly signed the agreement last May.

Then, according to Radar Online, 17 days later, Oksana suddenly became disillusioned with the deal. Greed overtook her and $15 million  was no longer enough.  Oksana wanted more.  See  $15 Million Was Not Enough for Gold Digger Oksana Grigorieva

On June 2, Oksana sent a text message to Eric George stating that she had consulted with “three or four people, the experts”  who according to  Oksana, confirmed independently,  that she’d made a mistake by agreeing to the deal.

Apparently the “experts” Oksana consulted with told her she could have gotten more money if domestic violence had been involved.  So Oksana proceeded to build her case.   

Seventeen days later, in a  text message to Eric George,( which can be seen at RadarOnline.com) Oksana told George she wanted renegotiate the “monetary” (financial ) portion of the agreement.   

To persuade Eric George to reopen the negotiations, Oksana’s e-mail  now made frequent reference to previously unmentioned domestic violence that she allegedly suffered at the hands of Mel Gibson, and included a long list of “evidence” she’d assembled in  approximately 2 weeks time to support her (newly-concocted) domestic violence claims.    See Oksana Rejected by Domestic Violence Group -  Her Story Doesn’t Ring True

At this point George may have suspected what Oksana was up to, because he refused to get involved.  Besides, at this point, the negotiations were a done deal, which in the presence of the mediators and both sets of attorneys, Oksana and Mel Gibson had already signed.

Oksana Grigorieva’s Tactics to Negate the $15,000 Deal

Here’s what Oksana did to get out of the agreement she and Mel Gibson signed:

1.  Oksana refused to turn over the (bogus)  tapes, (doctored)  photos, and other “evidence” she claimed to have, even though this was a condition of Oksana receiving the agreed upon financial settlement from Mel.  As later discovered, Oksana had other plans for the tapes, which were apparently an essential part of her attempted extortion plan.  See Oksana Grigorieva’s $10 million Extortion Plot against Mel Gibson Backfires  

2. Although the agreement called for joint custody of baby Lucia, and spelled out in detail when, how often, how much time, and on which holidays Mel would have physical custody of baby Lucia, Oksana refused to allowing Mel to have baby Lucia on Father’s Day.  At this point, Mel took Oksana to court, which is how this whole legal battle began.
 

3.  Oksana then proceeded to take Mel Gibson to family court to obtain even more child support money than was specified  in their signed agreement.     This, despite the fact that their signed agreement contained a clause which clearly stipulated that if Oksana attempted to get more money than  what was already provided in the already generous agreement, it would render the agreement null and void and she would forfeit everything.  See The Financial Bonanza Oksana Lost by Reneging on Her Signed Agreement with Mel

Oksana’s New Attorney, Horowitz Makes False Claims about Eric George

Oksana had Daniel Horowitz,  her newest attorney at the time,  (she’s had  over 40 in 8 months) launch a major publicity campaign stating  Eric George and his firm mishandled her  negotiations (which were mediated by 2 retired judges)  and that she was coerced into signing the agreement  with threats that she would  lose custody of her children, and be arrested for making the tapes. 

Horowitz apparently took this action on Oksana’s behalf before finding out about Oksana’s reputation for telling lies.

Eric George, who was out of the country at the time, responded upon his return by sending  an official letter  to Daniel Horowitz warning him that if he did not immediately “cease and desist” from making false and defamatory statements about him, and about his firm he would take legal action.   A chastened Horowitz sent George a letter of apology,  and made no further public accusations along those lines.

Despite a signed agreement which provided handsomely for Oksana and baby Lucia in exchange for the return of the audiotapes of Mel, Oksana felt she was entitled to more  See  $15 Million Was Not Enough for Gold Digger Oksana Grigorieva

She was determined to get the additional millions from Mel Gibson that she felt were her rightful due, even confiding in her bodyguard that she was going after “Tiger Woods money.”

This has since brought Oksana’s“evidence”  (tapes, photos, fictitious statements, non-existent, or uncooperative witnesses) under scrutiny, and much of it has been deemed by experts to be fake.

Oksana's Final Attempt to Avoid Paying Eric George's Fee

Oksana made one final attempt to get out of paying Eric George’s fee.

Oksana publicly disavowed her signed agreement with Mel Gibson and  tried to use this as a legal means to avoid paying Eric George’s fee.    See  Oksana Grigorieva Being Sued by Her Own Lawyer in the Mel Gibson Case

Oksana Grigorieva has refused to pay Eric George for services rendered in her behalf over 8 months ago.. 

To add insult to injury, Oksana recently filed legal documents  requesting that the court dismiss  Eric George’s claim.  Her motion was promptly denied.

The judge ruled that despite Oksana’s disavowals, and her violations of the terms of the signed agreement, she is still obligated to pay Eric Georg’s fee.

Since Oksana’s claims to be broke, and in debt, it will be interesting to see what happens next.
