Why nuclear weapons and guns are alike

See also

Many on the right-wing oppose full background checks for all gun sales in the U.S. They rely upon the honor system that violent convicted felons, including ones that might have escaped from prison, would not lie to non-federally licensed gun dealers. Because if we can't rely upon violent sociopaths, who can we trust?

But, these same people, are of the opinion that we should not talk with Iran until all possible nuclear fuel is removed, even if Iran states that the nuclear enrichment is for peaceful purposes. Which would be nice ideally, but not realistically. Iran is a potential threat with nuclear weapons, because of the fundamentalist religious beliefs of its' leaders.

So, we should work to ensure such a nation doesn't have nuclear weapons, just like we should ensure violent felons don't have easy access to guns. Unfortunately for many on the right-wing, they seem to forget the latter part. Fortunately groups such as the Brady Group work to ensure that those who shouldn't have guns, don't.
