Regardless of your fitness goals, completing a resolution run is a great way to get 2013 off on the right foot. And however you cover the distance (run, walk...trudge), there’s no denying that it’ll get some momentum going for you to establish some better health habits in the New Year.
Here’s a quick list of a few Bay Area resolution runs for 2013, but if you’re traveling or live outside of San Francisco, check out sites such as Active to find one near you.
New Year’s One Day (Dec. 31) Crissy Field, San Francisco: Run from 2012 through to 2013 surrounded by beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge in six-, 12- and 24-hour races that are done in increments of 1.061 mile laps around the lagoon at Crissy Field.
Brazen New Year’s Day Half Marathon (Jan. 1) Lake Chabot Marina, Castro Valley: If spending New Year’s Day running around a scenic lake in a 5K, 10K or half marathon isn’t enough to push your fitness limits, there’s also a “pre-race race” half marathon, so you can tell friends, “It took me two years to finish that marathon!”
Commitment Day (Jan. 1) Embarcadero Farmer’s Market, San Francisco: More than a race, it’s a movement: In cities all across the U.S., thousands of people will participate in a 5K and make a commitment to live a healthier lifestyle while helping others do the same.
