Why not ride the bus to local attractions during Spring Break

For those of us who choose to stay home during Spring Break, there are plenty of opportunities to save cash and still have a great vacation right here at home. Just think of all the fun that you can have while taking in some of the local cultural, educational and outdoor attractions and activities that are easily accessible for a $2.00 bus ride one way. The Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Science Center and the Detroit Historical Museums are each located off the Woodward Avenue Route 450. For some fresh air and fun, The Detroit Zoo  is accessbile on the same route, with Crosstown routes transferring to Woodward Ave. from 8 Mile, 9 Mile and 10 Mile Roads. The zoo is open year-round and with temps expected to be in the 60's next week, the animals should be putting on quite a show as Spring Fever has settled in. And don't forget about Troy's Skateworld which offers family matinees and various scheduled events throughout the week. The rink is located at Maple near Dequindre. For teens who like to spend their time at the mall or want to take in movie, there are several trips to Great Lakes Crossing and the Somerset Collection. To find specific routes and schedule times, go to the SMART Web site and check out the Google Transit page. All you have to do is type in your destinations and you get door-to-door instructions. With so much to do right here at home, why go anywhere else?
