Years after working as a masseuse, where touching people meant I often picked up people's emotions - after I would communicate what I felt from touching them. or having heard their thoughts, I became desperately curious about how our brains work. This phenomena of empathic touch seemed like a psychic ability, in my understanding of the experience.
In time, I began providing psychic readings for people and what I learned from the successes from that made me even more curious about human brains, about how we are inspired to do things and the many different ways that information comes to us.
Once in hypnotherapy training, I began to learn that the subconscious mind controls psychic ability and dreams. The subconscious mind rules us when someone is sleeping.
Yet I still wanted to learn more. How was I picking up pictures or hearing words in my head when someone would hire me to provide massage or do an intuitive reading for them? I felt very passionate about learning the answers to many of my own questions.
On some occasions, I would smell something very strong, even when the client could not smell it. This gift of paranormal smell proved extremely helpful later when I was being hired to do house cleansings and clearing homes of unwanted paranormal energies. When I could describe smelling an adult's wet diaper (as when someone lives in a rest home) or should I admit I smelled cigarette smoke, or the smell of alcohol when it wreaks through the pores of an alcoholic's skin - those factors always proved highly significant to my clients who not only paid me gladly, but never asked me for a refund when I offered it should anyone ever be dissatisfied with my work.
When I explored psychic ability even further and began providing psychic readings on-line at LivePerson.com, the successes I had there made me more curious than ever before to study the mind even further. On some level I had wondered if psychic ability was purely a telepathic way of knowing something. A client would walk into my clinic and instantly I would be flooded with pictures and words and suddenly would know what they came for.
"You think your husband is cheating on you," I might blurt, and then feel regret for saying such - realizing, that I could destroy marriages with my words or be sued for revealing information that led to someone's divorce. In every case, however, the client confirmed that what I had spoken was their current reality and they were very aware of why they had come. (Confirming what I had blurted.)
Initially I assumed they were just thinking so hard on their problems, that I felt it, perhaps energetically. Yet when I was also able to read people through electronic communication systems, when they merely used a pseudonym, and after a short introduction I wasn't even sure of the person's gender but a client would hire me for a romantic, spiritual, career or dream interpretation reading, I felt confident that psychic phenomena was something that went way beyond anything I'd learned in public, private or technological school.
My experiences have caused me to feel convinced that we human beings are connected to one another on an even deeper level than what most of us realize. While in trance, many hypnotherapy clients who had come to resolve a relationship problem, would spontaneously morph into a past life regression where they described living with certain people at a historic date. Those "visions" explained why they struggled in their current life relationship and the hypnotized client would come out of trance feeling wholly satisfied and happy to pay me for their services.
This observation caused me to wonder if we do in fact reincarnate with the people we love, time and again. To adopt that might seem like I'm leaning toward religious projections and that's not my intent to all. What I'd rather focus on is to admit that I still see problems with psychic ability that I do not see with doing hypnosis.
The trouble with people hiring me for my psychic ability was that I never felt as though I was in control of when messages would come my way and I was never 100% certain where those messages came from. To this day I'm not convinced I know exactly how such phenomena works and can only speculate where ideas come from.
Unfortunately, so many people approach a psychic and expect an instant reading from him or her. When no spirits to convey important messages, and no other source feeding the psychic's brain, sometimes it seems as though the medium has some sort of writer's block. Yet I'm not sure it's the psychic who is blocked - but rather there's no important message that needs to be conveyed at that time.
YET I DIGRESS. I found I much prefer to put a client into trance than to go into a trance state for the purpose of being a medium/translator for them.
BACKING UP FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS POST
From a hypnotherapists perspective, I have learned that I can put a client into trance and 90% of the time I can get them to have their own psychic visions so they can do their own psychic readings. This is such a gem and gift to me and to the client. It takes pressure off me as a reader (so I don't have to perform) and the client gets to see the answers to their questions themselves. So nothing that is communicated in trance is questioned like it might be if a reading is translated through a psychic medium.
It is my belief that a client in trance who visits his or her relative post-mortem, in trance, will remember that vision for the rest of his or her life. The story they experience in trance will make them more aware and will expand their interpretation of reality.
More on hypnotherapy, and how it relates to psychic ability is to come this week. For now, just realize that it's possible to be put into a hypnotic trance and to have a deeply life changing and beneficial experience by being your own psychic.
