Why have Wallace Rose Point sterling silver prices plummeted?

If you’ve been meaning to add to your set of Wallace Rose Point flatware, now may be the time. For some reason, the market prices of used Rose Point pieces have fallen dramatically. Here are some recent examples, all taken from eBay:

  • Luncheon forks – under $40 each
  • Salad/dessert forks – under $30 each
  • Teaspoons – under $25 each
  • Large serving tablespoons – under $40 each
  • Iced tea spoons – under $30 each

These prices were paid for pieces in good condition – no dogs here.

Rose point is a beautiful, popular pattern and I can’t explain what’s happened. Perhaps sellers have been holding on to pieces hoping the silver market price would recover and have decided to stop waiting. I just don’t know. I do know that it’s a shame to see pieces like this sell for these ridiculous prices. Of course, the buyers probably don’t feel this way.

So, as I said, if you’ve been thinking about buying, you probably won’t see a much lower market for Rose Point. And, with the market price of commodity silver beginning to creep back up, Rose Point prices will follow.
