Don't bother running, you'll just run out of gas. It gets 42 mpg.

Exotica: Bugatti’s Grand Sport will make your woman want to ride topless
I know I’ve seen at least one fancy-shmancy South Carolina State Trooper rolling around in a 5-Series Bimmer (although I haven’t been lucky enough to get pulled by him). Apparently that E39 was a donation from BMW when they moved to Greenville-Spartanburg. That’s nothing, though, when it comes to the rides some other police forces get.
The latest development in the “foreign cops get cooler cars” situation comes from jolly old England. Jaguar has decided to try its hand at government vehicles, and it has put out a police-spec XF Diesel S. If the car passes muster, Jaguar may be able to make some money on the side by supplying British popo with their own luxurious rides. Damn you Britain, always hoarding your faux elite-ness over us like we’re a bunch of cretins.
But enough about my vendetta against the British for now. The police Jag is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter diesel V6 which puts out 275-horsepower, getting the Jag to 60 in 5.9 seconds while returning 42 British MPG. This car seems to do a good job of laying down the law and 443 lb-ft of torque simultaneously.
The XF Pursuit is no undercover ride either, turning run time into fun time via a crazy “stop in the name of the law” light show. This happens via the 3,600+ lights all over the car, including the light bar, the grille, and other standard cop-spots. Obviously Jaguar helps by providing a special power package to work all the extra lights and equipment.
I know US spending has been a little bit high lately, and we’ve seriously got to consider where our money goes, but would it be worth it to pay a little more for diesel highway patrol cars? If the quality were there, would money be saved in the long run? Just a thought. Oh, and take a look at some other international cop cars and concepts for the men in blue.
