After attending yesterday's Mass, listening to the sugar coated 'all is well, God Loves you' sermon, all the while sitting in my old jeans, coming in from my old car, praying to the old Crucifix about my old problem--severe underemployment for three years!--I realized that I was experiencing the paradox of paradoxes! I was within the House of God, the center of all healing graces, surrounded by (and preached to by) totally clueless people! The Crucified Christ, and strength in the solidarity of common human suffering has been tossed aside for sugary sermons and the corporate business-church model. In this model, compassion is only a word and charity is fulfilled in a sealed envelope.

But how did American Catholicism become so clueless?
First, and foremost, our parents generation, passed to our generation a new-Catholicism bathed in 'the Spirit of Vatican II.' What this essentially means is that the Jesus of the Beatitudes, the Jesus of Gethsemane (but Thy Will be Done), and the Jesus obedient even to the Cross was being replaced by a metrosexual cool Jesus, inclusive of all lifestyles, non-judgmental in His Nazarene rock n roll style. Suddenly, the Church became the old white dudes, oppressors of women and gays! No longer apostles, the old oppressive dudes, especially those who held to dogma's and doctrines became the target of decades of ridicule. And the fruit of this ridicule is the immense cafeteria of Catholics alive in America today. Picking and choosing morality to our nation's peril!

Second, Bishops like John J Nevins (Emeritus), of the Diocese of Venice in Florida, introduced 'cutting edge' Catholic education into his diocese in the form of his 'Rice School for Pastoral Ministry.' Here cafeteria Catholics could pick and choose from an array of lies and distortions such as: denial of the historicity of the gospel birth narratives, the non-existence of Satan, the theological justification for women priests, the practice of the New Age Enneagram by religious sisters, and at the affiliated 'Catholic' Barry University, professors such as Professor Ehman taught the infidelity of St. Augustine, after his conversion, and the absolute falsity of apostolic succession and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ!

Third, Nazi-diocesan-hit squads such as Deacon William Ladroga, and his icy wife, were sent to potential diaconate (deacon) candidates to weed out those who still believed in praying the rosary, still believed in the existence of purgatory, who still listened to the Pope! They certainly didn't want true believers! Instead, they were looking for malleable-metrosexuals to mold into progressive drones.

Fourth, Catholic Catechists, Liturgists, and music directors, as exemplified in the fluff and puff of the Diocese of Venice in Florida, flooded Catholic schools, Catholic literature, and the Catholic Mass with a watered down and gender inclusive Bible, a soft rock-elevator pop cheesy liturgical music sound sure to conjure up the feminine side of every man, or so they hoped, and sermons about Jesus' self ignorance concerning His divinity--after all, a Jesus who was really God would put a damper upon this cafeteria progressive Catholic B.S. party!

The fifth reason for the hollowness of Catholicism today is the wimpy necessity of Catholics to fit in with this 'evil and perverse' generation. PC is the American Catholics catechism! Abortion is an acceptable choice! Proof? Electing Obama two terms in a row with a majority of the Catholic vote! Gay Marriage is an acceptable form of matrimony! Proof? Ditto on the Obama thing! Contraceptives are O.K., and the Church is tyrannical! Proof? Double Ditto on the Obama thingy! And now, after Pope Benedict XVI resigns, polls show that American 'Catholics' desire a Pope with a new approach=a Pope who endorses all of the above plus women priests, married clergy, and all that comes with Western Democratic decadence.
