Why bald can be sexy, fun –and so appropriate in Tucson

Tucson sizzling temperatures can make anyone want to shave their head, and bald can be downright sexy. It can also give you a lot of creative leeway, as evidenced by one Tucson man we ran across at the Moon Smoke Shop on Grant and Swan roads.

Getting a tattoo inked on your hairless pate is just one of the ways a bald head can be sexy – or at least fun. No one can deny a smiley face its place in the fun category, especially when it’s that annoyingly always happy yellow fellow.

Other reasons bald heads can be sexy and/or fun include:

  • They bring us back to Kojak days. Oh, the romantic detective in the days when we were allowed to get news direct from the cops on the case – or even photos of the crime scene. Kojak, played by the eternally alluring Telly Savalas, can still make female hearts go pitter-patter. “Who loves ya, baby?”
  • They are easy to clean. Nothing is more of a turn-off than a guy with grimy, greasy hair that appears as if he slept near a leaking gasoline pump. Bald heads are wash and go, or even baby wipe and go, a must in the Tucson sun. Just don’t forget the sunscreen or bald heads can easily go from sexy and fun to red, blistered and painful.
  • They deter bad haircuts. Although noting is as non-sexy as the greasy hair syndrome, a really bad haircut comes close. Bad haircuts include mullets, pink Mohawks and those that resemble the former do on Justin Bieber. Sure, the cut may have been cute, but a giant-banged bowl cut  certainly isn’t sexy. Unless, perhaps, you have a thing for the Three Stooges’ Moe.
  • They let us see the true shape of the head. Although one guy nearly got dumped over telling his girlfriend her head looked like an onion, we don’t have to comment on the shape out loud to glean insight. If someone has a short head, for example, it can indicate he lives in the moment and doesn’t give a dang about thinking ahead. This trait can be sexy, fun or wholly disastrous for  a relationship, depending on your perspective. With a bald guy we’ll know right away what we’re dealing with from the get-go.

And baldness is not just for guys. Just ask Britney Spears. Certain folks might find it sexy on women, too – a very cool thought to consider as the 100-degree-plus days come blazing our way.
