Whose Winning Your Mind or Your Brain?

Making New Years resolutions is not always in your best interest because two, three or maybe even four weeks in you begin to revert back to old ways and old patterns. This does not mean you have failed it simply means that your egoic dysfunctional brain has laid back in the shadows and waited for a moment of vulnerability and seized the moment.

Not to worry! The brain game shows up to everyone and these occasions and occurrences should be expected. The good news is there’s an answer to these feelings and there are tools to assist you when the ego shows up to distract you and interrupt your planned program.

The master tool in your arsenal is called brain chess. That’s right brain chess. Brain chess is the game you play with your brain making the necessary moves towards or against negative thinking.

For example, when your brain tells you, you don’t have time to exercise today, your say, I agree with you, thank you for sharing. In the meantime you continue putting on your sneakers, this is called the contrast move. The contrast move disrupts the program in the brain thereby requiring the brain to re-boot or re-program itself in order to comply with what you are doing.

As the conversation continues you simply let your brain talk to you, you may nod in agreement as you continue to move towards your front door gym bag in hand. When the brain asks you (and it will) what are you doing? Where are you going? You simply say, no where, I’m just going out to the car, this move is called the bait and switch move.

As you pull out of your driveway start driving in the direction of a place familiar to the brain like your job or the grocery store or anyplace acceptable to the program. Then make the switch, instead of making a right turn, turn left. The brain will then again go into reboot and reprogram mode and while that is happening you make your final move only gonna be a minute move! This is the ultimate brain chess move as the brain recognizes you managed to override the program and accomplish your mission.

Just be mindful that this is a strategic game and you must always have moves and counter moves because the brain has many programs and it has played this game with you for many many years, so it knows you quite well. In this game of brain chess you must have more than one move, you must be vigilant at all times, and you must recognize the ego’s only mission is to capture and destroy your dreams! But, like any master that is the best part of the game.

The greatest masters of the greatest endeavor take pleasure more in the challenge then in triumph over the brain.

The Mind is a terrible thing to waste! Listen to it & Live Long and Prosper!
